Eurovision 2020: Duncan Laurence hopes to see Rotterdam as host city!

The 2019 Dutch Eurovision winner, Duncan Laurence, has revealed that he hopes to see the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam!

Duncan Laurence performed at the 2019 Pinkpop Festival in Landraaf, Limburg last Monday where he mesmerised the crowds with his music and performance.

During the concert, local television channel L1 Limburg caught up with the Eurovision winner and gifted him with a ‘Maastricht Douze Points‘ t-shirt. Duncan accepted the gift gracefully and thanked the television anchor but said that he hopes to see Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam!

Duncan told L1 Limburg:

My preference is for the city near where I come from and that is Rotterdam… Sorry Maastricht!

He added that the ultimate decision on deliberating the 2020 Eurovision host city lies in the hands of AVROTROS.

The final decision on the 2020 Eurovision host city solely lies in the hands of the three public Dutch broadcasters: NOS, NPO and AVROTROS.

Rotterdam, Maastricht and Amsterdam seem to be the frontrunners in the 2020 ESC Host City bidding race, with Arnhem, Breda, Den Bosch, The Hague, Utrecht and Leeuwarden following.

About Eurovision 2020

The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest will be co-produced by three Dutch public broadcasters AVROTROS, NOS and NPO in liason with the EBU.

A total of nine cities have officially applied to host the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, they now have four weeks to prepare their respective proposals and hand them in the organizing committee. Hereafter the organizing body and the EBU will evaluate all submitted bids and make their deliberation.

The 2020 Eurovision Host City is expected to be revealed in August.

The dates of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest are yet to be confirmed and unveiled. The Netherlands will have the honour of hosting the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest thanks to Duncan Laurence‘s epic Eurovision victory in Tel Aviv.
