Tonight Serbia begin their search for their eleventh Eurovision participant, as the first semi-final in their national final, Beovizija, kicks off!

Earlier this year, the Serbian broadcaster, RTS, received 76 potential entries. A selection committee whittled these down to 24, who will compete over the coming days for the right to represent the Balkan state on the Eurovision stage.

Tonight’s show is the first of two semi-finals, where twelve songs will be performed, with 6 being voted through to the final by a 50-50 combination of jury and televote. Tomorrow the second semi-final will take place, and the final will take place on Sunday 3 March.

Tonight’s show

Tonight’s show will take place at RTS’s Studio 8, and will be hosted by Dragana Kosjerina and Ivan Mihailović. The acts which will perform tonight are:

Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Serbia have competed eleven times as an independent country, winning their debut contest in 2007 with Marija Šerifović’s powerful Balkan ballad Molitva. Last year, Serbia were represented by Sanja Ilić & Balkanika with their song, Nova deca. They finished in 19th place with 113 points.


Eleanor (or Ellie), is 26 years old, is from Exeter in the UK. She combines motherhood with studying linguistics. Ellie was first allowed to stay up and watch the Eurovision Song Contest aged 5 in 1999, but really fell in love with it after the Athens 2006 contest. Big key changes and dramatic stage shows are an absolute must! Ellie has also written an A* academic dissertation on the cultural history of Eurovision.
