FYR Macedonia in Eurovision

The Balkan country joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 and is yet to win the competition. FYR Macedonia attempted to debut at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with Kaliopi, but didn’t make through the special premliminary audio semi-final.

The country has competed 18 times in the Eurovision Song Contest and has only qualified to the Grand Final on 8 times. FYR Macedonia achieved its best result in the contest  in 2006 when Elena Risteka placed 12th in the Grand Final in Athens.

In 2018 MKRTV opted for an internal selection and selected Eye Cue to defend the Macedonian colours at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. Despite a great performance the duo failed to qualify to the Grand Final with their entry Lost and found. Thus FYR Macedonia missed out on the Grand Final for the sixth consecutive time.

FYR Macedonia will perform in the Second Semi-final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest on 16 May in Tel Aviv.
