Ralph Siegel submitted the same song he wrote for last year's Eurovision Song Contest winner Lena Meyer-Landrut in the Maltese selection. The German composer stated that his entry was rejected and decided to give it another go in the Mediterranean island.

The song is called I’ll follow the sunshine and will be performed by Dominique Azzopardi who is debuting in the national selection. “But that was – like all I do – rejected,” Ralph Siegel told the DAPD news agency on Saturday at the German Film Ball in Munich. “I have now filed the same song in Malta.” Siegel’s entry managed to qualify to the final phase in which 24 songs will compete for 16 spots in the final scheduled for 12th February 2011.

This is the fourth time that German composer in the Maltese selection. In the 2005 Malta Song for Europe, Siegel competed with seven songs but none of his songs managed to obtain a top 3 placing. Ralph Siegel wrote dozens of Eurovision Songs and penned Germany’s first winning song in the contest.
