The UK’s newest commentator for 2018, Rylan Clark-Neal, has met and interviewed several of this year’s Eurovision participants.

Rylan took the opportunity of many of this year’s stars being in the UK for the London Eurovision Pre-Party to compile a series of brief interviews with the contestants. Part one, which you can see above, features  Alfred and Amaia (Spain), Madame Monsieur (France), Jessica Mauboy (Australia), Rasmussen (Denmark), Mikolas Josef (Czech Republic), Saara Aalto (Finland), Michael Schulte (Germany), Gromee ft. Lukas Meijer (Poland), Ari Ólafsson (Iceland) and Vanja Radovanović (Montenegro). Part  two features Benjamin Ingrosso (Sweden), SuRie (United Kingdom), Zibbz (Switzerland) and Equinox (Bulgaria) along with others.

Rylan is taking over from Mel Geidroyc as the UK’s semi-final commentator, alongside radio presenter Scott Mills. Rylan now mainly works as a television presenter, but has previously worked as a model and singer. In 2016, he presented the British daytime magazine show This Morning (traditionally presented by a married couple) alongside his husband, Dan Neal, becoming the first gay couple to do so.


Eleanor (or Ellie), is 26 years old, is from Exeter in the UK. She combines motherhood with studying linguistics. Ellie was first allowed to stay up and watch the Eurovision Song Contest aged 5 in 1999, but really fell in love with it after the Athens 2006 contest. Big key changes and dramatic stage shows are an absolute must! Ellie has also written an A* academic dissertation on the cultural history of Eurovision.
