The semi-final of EMA 2018, the Slovenian Eurovision selection process, has concluded and we have the finalists for the Grand Final next weekend.

The finalists are:

  • Proper – Ukraden cvet
  • Lara Kadis – Zdaj sem tu
  • BQL – Ptica
  • Lea Sirk – Ne, hvala!
  • Indigo – Vesna
  • Ina Shai – V nebo
  • Marina Martensson – Blizu
  • Nuška Drašček – Ne zapusti me zdaj

Sixteen songs took part, and eight have made it through to the final. Four of the finalists were chosen by the public vote, four were chosen by the 7-member professional jury.

These eight songs will be performed again next week, on Saturday 24th February, and one of them will be crowned the winner and will represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.


Eleanor (or Ellie), is 26 years old, is from Exeter in the UK. She combines motherhood with studying linguistics. Ellie was first allowed to stay up and watch the Eurovision Song Contest aged 5 in 1999, but really fell in love with it after the Athens 2006 contest. Big key changes and dramatic stage shows are an absolute must! Ellie has also written an A* academic dissertation on the cultural history of Eurovision.
