The world can wait… Waylon’s Eurovision 2018 entry will be revealed step by step, slow but sure.
Waylon was presented as the Dutch candidate for Eurovision 2018 back in November. In the past months the artist, who graced the Eurovision stage in 2014 as part of The Common Linnets, has been working diligently on creating his perfect Eurovision 2018 entry.
It was recently announced that Waylon is all set to release his new album The world can wait, accompanied by a tour of the same name. His Eurovision entry will feature on The world can wait, and there was some speculation that the entry might actually be the album’s title track.
Five potential entries in a week!
Yesterday evening, it was revealed that Waylon will present 5 songs, one of which will be the eventual Eurovision 2018 entry.
The announcement was made in the popular talkshow De wereld draait door, in which official Dutch Eurovision commentator Cornald Maas and former participant Gerard Joling (Eurovision 1988) were guests.
Starting on Friday 23 February, Waylon will be a daily special guest in the De wereld draait door, starting on weekdays at 19:00 CET on channel NPO 1. Each day, the singer will reveal a song from which the Eurovision choice was made. So one of those songs is THE chosen Eurovision entry… but which one?
Waylon will reveal the ultimate choice and thus the Dutch Eurovision 2018 entry on Saturday 3 March.
Waylon has made the choice as to which song he will perform in Lisbon, Portugal, in conclave with his personal team and broadcaster AVROTROS’ selection commission.
About the songs
The five songs are still a secret. Waylon spent several months working on his album and Eurovision song, including writing sessions in Nashville, Tennessee (the United States).
Waylon is a versatile artist, singing blues, country, soul and pop music. His latest album The world can wait returns to his love for pure country music, and the artist has stated that he will stay true to his musical passion. However, Waylon is also aware that he has to bring something fresh and appealing to the stage.
