Following the conclusion of submissions last week, the Romanian national broadcaster – TVR – has confirmed that over 70 entries have been received for the country’s upcoming national selection for Eurovision 2018.
Back in November, TVR opened submissions for the Romanian national selection for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest: Selecţia Naţională.
Artists and composers from across the country have been submitting their entries for the upcoming selection, as well as international composers from countries including Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Moldova.
In total, 72 entries have been received by the Romanian broadcaster, many of which will now compete in the semi-final stage of the competition in 2018.
Who will compete in Selecţia Naţională 2018?
Following the closure of submissions, TVR has revealed a number of artists who have submitted their interest in competing in the forthcoming Romanian selection.
Some of the names set to compete in the next stage of the selection are as follows:
- Eduard Santha
- Feli
- JUKEBOX
- Xandra
Alongside the artists mentioned above are the return of 2 former Romanian representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest: MIHAI previously represented the country at the 2006 competition, whilst Alex Florea competed at the 2017 contest alongside Ilinca.
Audition stage ongoing
Kicking off today and over 3 consecutive days, the 72 artists will compete in the audition stage of the competition, each of whom will perform in front of an audience together with a specialist jury panel.
The semi-finalists are set to be revealed on the 22 December, with 60 artists set to compete in each of the 5 semi-final shows from January through to February.
The final of Selecţia Naţională 2018 will take place on the 25 February 2018, the winner of which will go on to represent Romania at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Lisbon.
