Romania: Submissions open for Selecţia Naţională 2018

Another country is now searching for their 2018 entry for the Eurovision Song Contest: Romania’s national broadcaster, TVR, has today opened submissions for their upcoming national selection, Selecţia Naţională.

As of today, composers will be eligible to submit their entries to the Romanian national broadcaster, TVR, in the hope of seeing their entry competing in the country’s forthcoming Eurovision selection.

How to submit?

Entries can be submitted to TVR via 2 options: via mail to the TVR Registry Office or via e-mail to the Eurovision Romania team.

  • Mail: Submissions should be sent in CD-form to the following address under the title ‘For the National Selection of Eurovision 2018 – Dorobanţilor Street no. 191, sector 1, Bucharest
  • E-mail: Online submissions can be sent to the national broadcaster via the following address – [email protected]

In total, 60 semi-finalists will be selected to participate in the Romanian competition, Selecţia Naţională, which will see a number of changes to the national selection format in 2018.

Changes to Selecţia Naţională

For the first time, the Romanian national selection will feature a total of 5 semi-finals, with 12 songs competing in each show, before a currently-unspecified number of entries will compete in the final of the event at the start of next year.

Composers have until the 15 December to submit their entries to the country’s national broadcaster; hereafter, the specially comprised jury will assess each of submissions the over the course of 3 days from the 18-20 December.

The semi-finalists will be publicly announced on the 22 December before the semi-final stage is set to take place, scheduled to air during the months of January and February 2018; the final will take place on the 25 February 2018.
