The second night of Israel’s The Next Star competition took place this evening, in which a further group of performs auditioned for a place in the next stage of the selection.

Tonight saw a total of 3 artists competing in the slightly shorter show of The Next Star, performing for both the votes of the studio audience as well as the 4 judging members.

Each judge, made up on members Static & Ben-El Tavori, Keren Peles, Harel Skaat and Assaf Amdursky, had a 10% vote in the final outcome of each performance, with each auditionee needing to receive atleast 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote in order to proceed in the competition.

Qualifiers from the second show

A shorter show meant that only 3 acts took to the stage in tonight’s show, however each managed to receive a high percentage of votes and have therefore qualified to the next level of the contest.

  • Gal Yaakoni (92%, ‘Yes’ from all 4 judges)
  • Hagar Yefet (78%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Chen Aharoni (94%, ‘Yes’ from all 4 judges)

One familiar face from tonight’s show was Chen Aharoni, having previously attempted to represent Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in previous editions.

Aharoni received the highest percentage of the ‘Yes’ vote in tonight’s show and in the fifth series of the selection to date, performing his interpretation of the Miley Cyrus hit, Wrecking ball. Check out his performance!

The Next Star continues next Tuesday in Israel on the 7 November, airing on Keshet 12 from 20:00 CET (21:00 local time).
