Stockholm to host the national final
As usual, Sweden will be among the last participating countries to select their entry for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
The first televised round of the Melodifestivalen will take place in Karlstad on 3 February 2018. Göteborg, Malmö and Örnsköldsvik will host rounds two, three and four. The Andra chansen (second chance) will be broadcasted from Kristianstad, before the lights will turn to Stockholm for the final scheduled on 10 March 10 2018 at 20.00 CET.
Competing acts to be announced soon
The submission period for Melodifestivalen 2018 closed at the beginning of October. A total of 2,771 entries were submitted to the SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster.
It represents the highest number since 2012, when Loreen took the trophy home with her iconic Euphoria. The competing acts are expected to be announced in November.
