Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker was announced earlier today to be taking part in the new series of Dancing on Ice.
The 63 year-old singer is currently enjoying a comeback with her bandmates, now known as The Fizz. The Fizz performed on the chat show Lorraine earlier this morning, and it was later revealed that Cheryl Baker will be taking part in the revamped UK series of Dancing on Ice.
Cheryl admitted on the show how nervous she was feeling about it.
I started yesterday and it was such huge fun. I wasn’t feeling nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. But as of yesterday, I am feeling nervous but it was hard because they were giving me all these things to do, all these movements and I was like “I can’t do that!”.
Cheryl Baker is no stranger to reality TV however, having taken part in many television programmes such as Drop the Celebrity, Celebrity Mastermind, Popstar to Opera star and Celebrity Cash in the Attic amongst others.
All about Dancing on Ice
Dancing on Ice follows a formula seen across the continent. A celebrity is paired with a professional ice dancer, and each week they perform a dance routine, with one couple being voted off each week until a winner is crowned.
Dancing on Ice will be making a comeback to the UK at the beginning of 2018, after the show was dropped after nine series in 2014 due to poor viewing figures.
Cheryl Baker won the Eurovision Song Contest for the United Kingdom in 1981 as part of Bucks Fizz with the song Making your mind up. She also took part in the 1978 Contest as part of the band Co-Co, and attempted to represent the UK in 1976 and 1980.
