A band of young French singers, Kids United, have released a cover version of the winning Eurovision song from 1977, Marie Myriam’s L’oiseau et l’enfant.

In the video, we follow the adventures of the group during a mountain excursion.

Kids United are made of five French youngsters aged between nine and sixteen years. All five members (Erza, Esteban, Gabriel, Gloria and Nilusi) were spotted in either The Voice Kids or La France a un incroyable talent.

The musical group was created to support the UNICEF campaign in French-speaking nations. Kids United debut album, Un monde meilleur, was released on international children’s day last year. The album sold more than 500,000 copies and received double platinum certification, as well as making the top ten in Belgium and Switzerland. It raised over €400,000 for UNICEF.

Marie Myriam is the last person to have won the Eurovision Song Contest for France, almost 40 years ago in 1977. Her song L’oiseau et l’enfant won the 22nd edition of the competition with 136 points.


Eleanor (or Ellie), is 26 years old, is from Exeter in the UK. She combines motherhood with studying linguistics. Ellie was first allowed to stay up and watch the Eurovision Song Contest aged 5 in 1999, but really fell in love with it after the Athens 2006 contest. Big key changes and dramatic stage shows are an absolute must! Ellie has also written an A* academic dissertation on the cultural history of Eurovision.
