In Stockholm, Sanja Vučić ZAA will perform the song Goodbye (Shelter), written by singer-songwriter Ivana Peters. The song addresses the impact of mental and physical domestic abuse, and violence.
Before leaving, the singer and her entourage were wished good luck during a press-moment. Serbian broadcaster RTS is very proud that Serbia will be represented by Sanja Vučić ZAA.
Dragoljub Dragan Ilić, the Serbian Head of Delegation, stated:
A lot of hard work and effort was needed to find a representative, song and arrangement, but it seems that the whole effort paid off in the end. We have a brilliant artist, song, backing vocals and players, and they will present the best that Serbia can offer.
Dragoljub Dragan Ilić also praised Sanja Vučić as an artist:
This is only a fraction of her capabilities and potential, her time has come, and we expect that Eurovision is a springboard. She sings all genres and gives every interpretation a special touch.
Duška Vučinić, head of Public Relations and Corporate Image of RTS, said:
It’s a good wind in the back and a great incentive for Sanja, her team and the whole delegation, with the massive support of the media, because all of us represent Serbia.
Sanja Vučić ZAA will be accompanied on stage in Stockholm by backing vocalists Lena, Jela, Dunja, Iva and ballet dancer Miloš. The group has been practicing their stage performance with artistic director Marko Novaković.
Sanja Vučić, who went on a promotional tour in the last month, visiting Malta, Israel and Amsterdam, is very excited about representing her country at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, and meeting her fellow participants:
This is an amazing experience for me, we are all artists with differing sensibilities and mentalities from different countries, but we have all made compromises. All representatives have the same goal and we are in the same business, but also support each other and I like a lot of songs this year.
Sanja Vučić ZAA was surprised with special support by the 2015 Serbian representative, Bojana Stamenov, who wished Sanja well and good luck for her Eurovision adventure. Symbolically handing the Serbian flag over to Sanja, Bojana said:
Dear Sanja, this is your moment. You will be the representative of this year, and of my whole life.
