Renowned fado and world music artist Dulce Pontes, who represented Portugal at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest, will perform at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, Las Palmas, Gran Canaria (Spain).

The concert hall Auditorio Alfredo Kraus will welcome Dulce Pontes on Sunday, 21 February 2016, starting at 20:00 CET. Dulce Pontes will perform her new show, titled Pilgrimage, a voyage through the world of folklore, fado and world music. Classic songs, covers and new work will be presented on stage, showing Dulce Pontes’ versatility as a performer, and taking the visitors on a musical journey. Elements form Iberian folk music traditions and world music come togther to create Dulce Pontes’ trademark style.

Pilgrimage is co-production between Auditorium & Theatre Foundation Las Palmas and Artevalle Productions, and is part of the 2016 Festival Mar Abierto (Open Water Festival).

Dulce Pontes (Montijo, Portugal, 1969) is one of the most beloved singers of Portugal, known for her interpretation of the traditional fado, yet also successfully venturing into the genres of world music, classical music and mainstream pop-music. The artist recovered many musical styles form the Iberian peninsula, adding folkloric elements and world music influences to her repertoire. She is also known as an actress on Portugese television and in theatre. In 1991, she represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rome, Italy. With the song Lusitana paixão, Dulce Pontes earned the 8th place with 62 points, one of Portugal’s best results in Eurovision.
