Singer Jade Ewen has given an interview to the Gay Times in which she discusses her new role in London’s West End, her time with the Sugababes and her experiences at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

In the interview, which can be read in-full here, Jade said of the Contest:

I think it’s really tough…(the competitors) are really talented. People are just looking for their big break…I don’t know if I’d advise a friend to do Eurovision as it really could go wrong!

Jade is currently starring in the American musical In The Heights at the King’s Cross Theatre, London. The show focuses on the lives of people living in the mostly Dominican-American neighbourhood of Washington Heights in New York City. Jade plays Vanessa, a young woman who works in a salon and dreams of one day leaving the area.

In The Heights opened on 3 October and runs until 3 January next year. Tantalisingly, Jade’s cast bio states she is ‘currently in the recording studio working on new solo material’.

Jade Ewen represented the UK at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with her entry It’s my time, achieving an honorable 5th place in the grand final in Moscow.
