During last night’s episode of the Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi (Amici), the 2015 Italian trio Il Volo performed their winning Sanremo song and their official Eurovision entry Grande amore, but with a special twist.
Amici is an Italian talent show which has been on air since 2001. In each season, around 20 participants between the ages of 18-25 who aspire to become future professional singers, songwriters and dancers compete for the Amici victory. Former Italian representative Emma Marrone (2014) previously won the talent show back in 2010 during the ninth season.
During last night’s show of the fourteenth series of Amici, the remaining acts competed to remain in the competition, hoping to get to the final episode of the show. Some of the remaining acts performed alongside some popular Italian singers and performers including Marco Mengoni, who represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2013.
Alongside Marco, the upcoming Italian representatives Il Volo were also invited to perform their song Grande amore on the show, but with a special twist. Mattia Briga, who is a rapper currently competing in the show, performed in a duet with the trio where he added his own special twist on the 2015 winning Sanremo entry. You can watch their performance below.
Il Volo will compete at the Grand Final of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with their entry, Grande amore, on the 23 May in the host city of Vienna.
