The results of Sweden’s votes in the grand final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest are to be announced by singer Mariette.
SVT selected Mariette for the job following her third-place finish at Melodifestivalen in March.
It’ll be so much fun, but I’m also a little nervous, she told SVT journalists. I’m not sure yet what I’ll say, but I think I’ll play it fairly straight. It is a great honour.
Mariette said she hasn’t listened to the songs in the contest yet, and will wait until the first semi-final to do so.
Speaking of her experience at Melodifestivalen, she said:
It was total joy and absolutely wonderful. When it ended, I felt a bit empty as I’d been preparing for it for so long. But the focus quickly went on writing new songs. It was a great starting point for me as a solo artist.
Mariette revealed she is currently working on an EP which is to be released this summer and supported by a tour.
Last year, Sweden’s results were announced by the group Alcazar. Like Mariette, Alcazar also finished in third place in that year’s Melodifestivalen.
