Austria: Conchita Wurst appears on L’Arena

Conchita Wurst, who represented Austria at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, has made an appearance on the Italian television programme L’Arena.

Over the past few days, Conchita Wurst has been a big focal point in Italy having appeared on a number of news sites, newspapers, magazines, television shows etc. However on Sunday 4 January, Conchita was invited to appear on the Italian television programme L’Arena.

Hosted by Massimo Giletti and broadcast on Rai 1, Conchita’s made a 20 minute appearance on L’Arena where they discussed topics including her Eurovision victory and her life before and after Eurovision.

When asked about the Eurovision Song Contest and her life after the Austrian victory, Conchita said:

Well as I said in the sentence before, this night was dedicated to each and every one who believes in a future without hate and without discrimination. [..] Everything has changed, especially in Austria. Some people thought that seeing this female figure with a beard would be embarrassing, but the Austrians could not avoid it and slowly understood the meaning of Conchita.

Towards the end of the interview, Massimo asked Conchita whether she would make a guest appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival, to which Conchita replied That would be great!
