Slovenia: RTVSLO will most likely participate in Eurovision 2014

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that Slovenia will most likely participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. An official confirmation is yet to be made by the Slovenian broadcaster regarding their participation next year.

If Slovenia are to compete next year at the Eurovision Song Contest, the country is yet to determine the method and mechanism it will use to select its Eurovision entry.

In 2013 RTVSLO decided to select their Eurovision representative and entry via an internal selection. Hannah Mancini represented Slovenia at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with Straight into love. 

Slovenia has had the tradition of selecting their Eurovision entries in the past via a national selection, the EMA Song Festival. Many of their Eurovision entries have been selected via this popular song contest.

Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Albania, Iceland, Ireland, San Marino, Georgia , Switzerland , The Netherlands, Estonia, Malta, Russia,Germany, Austria and Belgium, have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year in Denmark. Whilst Belarus,Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary,Lithuania and Latvia has said they will most likely be in the competition next year.

Slovenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at Europe’s favourite television show was in 1995 with Darja Svajger and 2001 with Nusa Derenda, when the country achieved a 7th place in the competition.
