Georgia: Iriao release their Eurovision entry Sheni gulistvis!

All entries released! Travelling to Caucasus, today sees the Georgian band Iriao reveal their song Sheni gulistvis (For you), along with its official music video, the shootings for which had been taking place over the last few days.

Georgia will participate at the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest with the ethno-jazz group Iriao, singing Sheni gulistvis (For you), composed by the band’s leader Davit Malazonia and penned by Irina Sanikidze.

The filming of the video clip took place in the Saguramo region, close to the country’s capital Tbilisi, under the directing instructions of Zaza Orashvili, who had also directed the postcards of the Tbilisi-hosted Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 around Georgia, and dancers from ‘Erisioni’ Ensemble joining the project.

The highly acclaimed costume designer in Georgia and beyond Megi Gabunia will be involved in the clothing of the Georgian performers, and has also reportedly needled 5 different costumes for the Iriao’s video clip.

About Iriao

The ethno-jazz group Iriao was formed in 2013 and consists of a total of 7 members: Davit Malazonia, Davit Kavtaradze, Shalva Gelekhva, Levan Abshilava, Goerge Abashidze, Bidzina Murgulia and Mikheil Javakhishvili.

They are among the few musicians who have tried to combine jazz music with Georgian ethnic music sounds. Below you may enjoy the performance of their song Chemi sikvaruli:

Georgia will be competing in the 2nd half of the second semi-final evening on 10 May at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.
