Greece: Eurostars among MAD VMA ’17 nominations

Just a little earlier, the Greek music television station MAD announced the nominees for the 14th MAD Video Music Awards (MAD VMA ’17). As expected, among the nominees there are several Greek past participants from the Eurovision Song Contest who have each released hits over the past 12 months.

MAD VMA ’17: A Eurostars affair!

The Greek 2017 participant Demy has won 10 MAD Awards over the last few years and in 2017, after her appearance at Eurovision, is nominated in 5 categories. With the video clip of her Eurovision entry This is love, Demy is in contention to get 3 awards and these are:

  • Best Female Modern
  • Best Dance Video
  • Video of the Year

The young singer is also nominated in the category of Best Ballad Video with her ballad song Tha meineis feugontas (You’ll stay when you’re leaving).

It is also more than impressive that Demy is one of the artists that is nominated for the award of Superfans of the Year, amongst the biggest names within the Greek pop music industry.

2005 Eurovision winner nominated

Helena Paparizou‘s name is also being featured in several categories this year. The 2005 winner and most-awarded artist from the event (a record of 24 awards since 2004) is a candidate in 4 categories with the music video of her 2016 summer hit Fiesta and her latest 2017 song Haide, both of which you can listen to below. Her categories are:

  • Song of the Year
  • Best Dance Video
  • Best Female Modern
  • Video of the Year

Two-time Greek representative featured

Sakis Rouvas (2004 and 2009 participant, Eurovision 2006 host) is the male Eurostar that features on the list. With his new song Zitima zois (Life issue), the Greek superstar features in the Best Male Modern and also in Superfans of the Year categories.

RiskyKidd is back!

The 2014 Greek representative (together with Freaky Fortune) RiskyKidd will compete for the Best Collaboration award in the event, after his collaboration with ARVA & Iro Legaki and their song #Bang! which was released in March 2016.

Cyprus is also in the game!

Evridiki, the Cypriot representative in 2007 along with Dimitris Korgialas, also features as a nominee in the category of Best Video with a Cause, with her latest release Mia mera ksypnisa (One day I woke up).

The event will be held on 27 June at the Tae Kwo Do court in Palaio Faliro in Athens.
