Ten acts competed in tonight’s Melodi Grand Prix 2017 final and a winner has been crowned! JOWST will represent Norway at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Kyiv with the song Grab the moment.

This evening saw a shortlisted total of 10 acts competing in the big Norwegian event this evening, each of whom were determined by the NRK and Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) team earlier this year.

Tonight’s MGP winner was decided in 2 parts; round 1 saw the 10 acts perform their entries live for the first time, in which a combined international jury and public televote took place in order to determine which 4 acts would move forward to the second round of the competition. The round 2 votes were decided 100% via a televote.

The 4 Gold Finalists

Following a combined vote in round 1 of MGP, it was decided that JOWST, Ulrikke, Elin & The Woods and Ammunition would compete in the next round of the competition and continue their Eurovision bid.

Voting continued in the Gold Final of the national final, the winner of which was determined purely by a public televote. The final results determined JOWST as receiving the highest percentage of the final vote, winning the national final and therefore going on to represent Norway at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the entry Grab the moment. Norway will compete in the second half of the second semi-final on the 11 May, competing for a place in Saturday’s grand final on the 13 May.
