It was a big night in Reykjavík and Söngvakeppnin 2017 is now over! The big winner of this year’s national competition is Svala Björgvinsdóttir and thus has won the chance to be the 30th representative of Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest!
In the two semi-final evenings on 25 February and 4 March, 12 acts had performed their entries at the contest. From these 12, 7 acts progressed to tonight’s final; 3 from each semi-final and 1 by wildcard.
The results are in!
The 7 acts that performed were shortened to the top 2 and the winning entry was determined via 100% tele-voting. For determining the top 2, jury and tele-voting had each a 50% stake at the outcome. Placing in the top 2 were Svala Björgvinsdóttir and her song Paper, together with Daði Freyr Pétursson and Is this love?.

Superfinal results
Svala and Daði became the two superfinalists. The final outcome declared Svala Björgvinsdóttir as the winner, with the highest percentage in televote, therefore winning Söngvakeppnin 2017 and becoming the next Icelandic representative.
Iceland will participate in the first half of the first semi-final on 9 May. The 62nd Eurovision Song Contest is going to take place at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
