The Macedonian broadcaster MRT has announced that Jana Burčeska was selected internally to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. A songwriting team that will be chosen will be responsible for bringing a “modern and attractive Eurovision entry that will present the country in front of the European and worldwide cultural public”

Jana’s musical career started as she began singing in elementary school but kicked off when she participated in the first (and so far only) season of Macedonian Idol, aired in 2011. She finished fifth. Later that year she went on being a UNICEF ambassador in a national campaign towards schools without violence.

Jana debuted in Skopje Fest back in 2012 with the song Bi bila tvoja and participated in later on in 2013 with Miki Sekulovski and solo again in 2015. Among her favourite artists we can find Beyonce, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin.

More information about the Macedonian entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be revealed by MRT in due course. Following the country’s fresh and contemporary entry for this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest, it is safe to say that Eurovision fans would like to see the same line continuing in the Eurovision Song Contest itself, after failing to qualify to the Eurovision final since 2014.
