SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster has revealed today that the 2016 Eurovision Opening Ceremony will consist of 2 parts: the Red Carpet and the Opening Reception.

The 94 meter long Red Carpet will be placed adjacent to the Euroclub which is located at the wharf on the waterfront outside the Royal Palace. Accredited media and fans will get the chance to meet and greet, interview the 43 competing acts on the Red Carpet.

The 2016 Eurovision hosts Mans Zelmerlow and Petra Mede will kick off the Red Carpet ceremony by leading the way for the 43 delegations, they will be followed by Christer Bjorkman and Sven Stojanovic.

Hereafter the artists will be ushered to the City Hall, where the official Opening Ceremony /Reception will be held. They will be able to enjoy a cocktail and meet each another in a more privee ambiance.

The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Blue Hall in the City Hall, where the Nobel Prize Banquet is held. The Eurovision stars will be officially welcomed by Miss Karin Wanngård, Mr. Jan Ola Sand (EBU Executive Supervisor for ESC) and  and Mr.Martin Österdahl (Executive Producer ESC 2016- SVT).

What will the media, fans and accredited journalist do then? The Opening Ceremony After Party will be held at the Euroclub where everyone will be able to celebrate. Once the artists will finish at the City Hall they will attend the After Party at the Euroclub.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled to be held on Sunday 8 May, and will be streamed live on eurovision.tv, svt.se and SVT Play. Stockholmers and visitors will be able to watch the celebration on large screens throughout the city.
