Donny Montell has won the Lithuanian national selection and will represent the country in Stockholm.

The singer emerged victorious in his country’s mammoth selection process, which has been running for ten weeks.

Only six acts remained from the original 32 acts, and all performed their songs in a last ditch attempt to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

The result was determined by a combination of public and jury votes. Donny raced into a convincing lead in the public vote even before performing his entry.

Erica Jennings finished in the runner up position.

Donny will take his song I’ve been waiting for this night to Stockholm in May.

At the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, Donny will join Iceland’s Greta Salome and Macedonian singer Kaliopi in their returns to the contest.
The trio of singers were all finalists in the 2012 contest in Baku.

In the contest this year, Donny will perform his entry in the first half of the second semi-final on 12 May.

Last year, Monika and Vaidas represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.

The duo managed to reach the final with their song This time, and placed 18th with 30 points.
