Czech Republic: Gabriela Gunčíková to Stockholm!

CT, the Czech  national broadcaster has revealed today that Gabriela Gunčíková will represent the Czech Republic at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm.

Gabriela Gunčíková has been selected by a 5-member jury via an internal selection to fly the Czech flag at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest next May.

Gunčíková will compete at the Eurovision Song Contest with the entry I stand, produced by an Irish-Swedish trio who have had previous writing experience in connection with the competition.

Speaking of being selected, Gunčíková revealed:

For me it is especially a great honor. This competition has a great history, and it is the only project in the world of such a dimension that focuses on the music of countries throughout Europe. It’s like the European Cup in sports competitions, but here it is the best song and its presentation.

The Czech Republic debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and is yet to qualify to the grand final and win the event.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globen Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
