The Azerbaijani national broadcaster, İTV has announced that the country’s upcoming representative for the Eurovision Song Contest will be selected via an internal selection.

İTV has published an open call for artists and entries to be considered as representatives for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Artists wanting to represent the nation must either be living in the country or Azerbaijani living abroad, whilst composers can be international.

Artists wanting to represent Azerbaijan at the contest should send their applications to [email protected] and must include the following details; forename, surname, date of birth and location as well as an audio or video recording of themselves. Composers must also include basic information about themselves. Applications must be submitted by the 10 February.

An internal jury will then decide which artist and song should represent Azerbaijan at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Stockholm. The Azerbaijani act will be revealed on the 14 March.

Last year, Elnur Hüseynov was internally selected to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest. With his entry Hour of the wolf, Elnur qualified from the second semi-final and went on to receive 49 points at the grand final, placing in 12th position.
