CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Cyprus will participate at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

The mechanism that will determine the country’s next representative will be announced in due course. Cyprus is the 20th country confirming their participation in Stockholm.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to be held on the 10, 12 and 14 of May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Cyprus selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national selection. John Karayiannis represented Cyprus at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry One thing I should have done.

Cyprus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 with Island and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the contest in 1981 with Anna Vissi, in 1997 with Hara and Andreas and in 2004 with Lisa Andreas when it came 5th in the competition
