This evening, the ninth annual Wind Music Awards will take place live at the Arena di Verona in Verona.

The Wind Music Awards, first held in 2007, is an annual music award which honours Italian artists and their achievements over the past year. The awards celebrate Italian artists whose singles and album have been certified by the Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana based on the number of digital and hard copy CDs sold throughout the year.

A total of 26 artists have confirmed their appearance at tonight’s Wind Music Awards, including 3 former Eurovision participants.

Marco Mengoni (Italy 2013) will once again make an appearance at the event this evening, having previously appeared at the 2013 and 2014 award ceremonies. Last year, Marco received recognition for his album #PRONTOACORRERE – Il viaggio which received a multi-platinum certification.

Also receiving recognition at last year’s awards was Italy’s 2014 representative, Emma Marrone, who also received a multi-platinum certification for her album Schiena vs schiena. Emma will make a return to this year’s awards ceremony at the Arena di Verona.

The Italian trio and Grande amore singers Il Volo will make an appearance at this year’s Wind Music Awards, having last appeared at the event in 2011 where they received a gold certification for their 2010 album Il Volo.

Other artists appearing at tonight’s ceremony include a number of former Sanremo participants, some of which include Nek, Modà, Eros Ramazzotti and Elisa.

The Wind Music Awards 2015 will take place this evening and will aired live on Rai 1 and Rai HD from 20:30 CEST.
