SVT, the Swedish broadcaster, reports today that due to a copyright claim and similarities to a work by a dandypunk, Måns will have to say goodbye to the dwarf that accompanied him on the Melodifestivalen tour, all the way to the first place.
The Alchemy of Light by a dandypunk, the inspiration to Heroes
“Yes, I was inspired by the character and even if I decline that it was plagiarism, we have no time for taking care of this. After all, the look of the figure isn’t so crucial for me, so it’s easy to change it”, said Fredrik “Benke” Rydman, the director of Heroes
The preview video of Heroes, which presents the performance from the Melodifestivalen final was removed from the official media of eurovision.tv and the official lyrics video is now presented instead.
Måns Zelmerlöw himself feels relaxed and confident regarding the decision. “The character will have new clothes. It is spring now and he can’t have the same outfit as he had in February”, he says.
Sweden will be the 13th country to perform on the second semi-final, to be held on 21 May, of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
