Today we will have a look at how to get from the aiport to the city during Eurovision!

Vienna’s International Aiport is situated around 16km east of the city center. There are several different ways of travelling from the aiport to the city centre. Hence it is very easy to get from the airport to the 2015 Eurovision host city!

There are 5 different ways to get from Vienna International Airport to the city centre ranging from 4,40 Euros to 55,00 Euros.

  • Option 1- S-Bahn (Surburban Railway)
    From the Vienna Int. Airport to the City of Vienna (Wien-Mitte train station) for 4,40 Euros (one way).
  • Option 2- Bus connections (Vienna Airport Lines)
    From the Vienna Int. Airport to the main Vienna transport hubs for  8,00 Euros (one way).
  • Option 3- CAT (City Airport Train)
    Non-stop from the Vienna Int. Airport to the City Air Terminal (Wien-Mitte train station)  for 11,00  Euros (one way)
  • Option 4- TRANSFER TO CITY (Airport Transfer Service Vienna)
    Save time and stress by arranging pick-up by our chauffeur. (36,00 Euros)
  • Option 5- TAXI- (Aiport- City)-
    You can catch a cab outside Arrivals at the Airport. Taxis can sometimes use the taximeter for charges. It’s better you ask for the price before you get in and fix the price with the cab driver! (35,00- 55,oo Euros)

The transport system in Vienna is one of the best in the world, the city is very well connected via its buses, trams, metro and trains.

How to get from the airport to the city? Which option shall I take? How long will it take?

Transfer to City Taxi Service

If you have a lot of luggage and have money to spare, and are the type of person who likes to commute by cab or a chauffered car,  then you can opt for the Transfer to City taxis, it will cost you 36 euros to go to the city centre. You can find their office when you come out of arrivals on the left hand side! It will be a 20-30 minutes ride to the city centre depending on traffic.

CAT- City Airport Train

The CAT ( The Airport- City Shuttle Train) will cost you 11 Euros one way and it will take you between 15-20 minutes to get to Wien-Mitte Station in the city centre, from there you can either take a tram, bus or U-Bahn metro to wherever you need to go! It’s fast and safe! It will take you 16 minutes to get from the airport to Wien-Mitte. CAT runs every 30 minutes and travels non-stop from the airport to the city center!

There is CAT Ticket Office just as you come out of Arrivals in the Arrival Lounge,but you can find the ticket machines at the Luggage Pick Up Lounge at Arrivals.

Airport Shuttle Bus Service

If you opt to take the bus to the city via Vienna Aiport Lines (Postbus) which connects Vienna Airport with the main Vienna transport hubs. The 3 Vienna Airport Lines routes serve all of Vienna’s underground railway lines and also Wien West (Westbahnhof) and Wien Meidling railway stations. Buses to the city centre (Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz) run 24 hours a day, journey time just 20 minutes.

The S-Bahn-  Express Train Service to the city- S7

The suburban railway (S-Bahn) is an economical way of travelling between Vienna city center and the airport.Travelling on the S-Bahn to the city centre from the airport will cost you from €4.40 (to/from Vienna, including travel on entire Vienna public transport network).Ticket machines can be found on the platforms at the airport and in the centre of Vienna. The platforms at the airport are connected to the Terminals by covered passages. It will take 25 minutes to travel to the Wien- Mitte Station from the aiport via S-Bahn.
