Ann Sophie will be the German representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 after a dramatic end to the country’s Unser Song für Österreich.

Andreas Kümmert won the contest but after he was announced as the winner, he awarded the title and right to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest to Ann Sophie, who finished in second place with her song Black smoke.

The pair ended up in the final after three rounds of voting, which ended with Andreas being declared the winner.

In the first round each of the eight acts performed their first of two songs submitted to the competition.

Alexa Feser, Ann Sophie, Laing and Andreas Kümmert received the most votes and progressed to round two where they each performed their second songs.

At this stage of the competition, the public then voted between the four artists and their eight songs. Ann Sophie and Andreas Kümmert were voted into the third round with their songs Black smoke and Heart of stone.

The country then made their final choice to send Andreas Kümmert to Vienna with the song Heart of stone, before the dramatic twist at the end.

Last year, the group Elaiza represented Germany. Their song Is it right finished 18th in the grand final with 39 points.
