San Marino, one of the world's smallest states, may be about to make it's Eurovision Song Contest debut. The news was given to OGAE Italy by email, in which a representative from San Marino Television claims that the broadcaster is seriously considering participation in 2008.

The email states: "The San Marino Television would be interested in taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. But there are still discussion inside the San Marino tv board about it, so not a final decision has been taken yet…if a positive decision will be taken, this will be in a very few days".

Despite many rumours in the past, San Marino has never participated at the Eurovision Song Contest before. The country has a population of approximately 30,000 and Italian is the primary language.

All countries planning to participate at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest must summit an application to the European Broadcasting Union by November 15th 2007.
