A new rule from the Swedish broadcaster SVT might cause disqualification of some songs selected for Melodifestivalen 2003, the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Nanne Grönvall told eurosong.be that SVT wants to force artists, who recorded a song, to perform it.
In former years Swedish producers asked famous artists to record their song to have influence on the jury. When a song was selected, a less famous artist appeared on stage to perform it. Now SVT made this construction impossible, some songs might be disqualified.
Carola Häggkvist, who sang Autumn Leaf, is not sure if she's able to perform the song because of her role in the musical Les Misérables. Afro-dite, the three girls who represented Sweden last May in Tallinn, sang Aqua Playa, but due to their busy schedule it's not sure if they will perform it in the final.
