Romania: National final on 8 March; song submission kicks off on 26 January

TVR, the national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Romania will yet again opt for a national selection in order to select the 2015 Romanian Eurovision representative and entry as has been the tradition since many years.

The 2015 Romanian national final – Selecţia Naţională Eurovision 2015 will  be held on Sunday 8 March, the venue and host city is yet to be determined. Artists wishing to enter the competition can do so by submitting their entries to TVR from 26 January- 08 February. Hereafter a special jury will evaluate all received entries on 09, 10, 11 February and deliberate a total of 12 entries for the grand final. TVR’s special jury will reveal the 12 lucky hopefuls on 12 February.

  • 08/02 – Song submission period concludes
  • 09/02 – Jury selection Day 1
  • 10/02 – Jury selection Day 2
  • 11/02 –  Jury selection Day 3
  • 12/02 – Artists announcement by jury (12 acts)
  • 08/03 – National final

In 2014 Romania selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national final. Paula Seling and Ovi won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with their entry Miracle, and achieved a 12th place in the grand final.

Romania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Dan Bittman and is yet to win the event. Romania’s highest placing at the Eurovision Song Contest has been a 3rd placing in 2005 with Luminita Anghel’s Let me try and in 2010 with Ovi and Paula Seling‘s Playing with fire.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
