The main criterion of the Home Composed Song Contest is equally simple: all participants must be amateurs! Nevertheless some careers went far beyond the Home Composed Song Contest… In 1994 Michalis Hatzigiannis ( Cypriot representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 1998) participated in the Home Composed Song Contest, ending 2nd with his song Pictures. In 1997 Chiara ( Malta’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 and in 2005) participated at the same contest as well but she was disqualified after being discovered to be professional.
