Slovenia: EMA 2015 on 28 February; 145 entries received

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster has revealed that the Slovenian national final Evrovizijska Melodija 2015 (EMA 2015) will take place on the 28 February.

Earlier this year, RTVSLO confirmed to ESCToday that Slovenia would once again opt for a national final in order to select their 2015 Eurovision representative.

Last month, RTVSLO asked for artists and composers to submit their entries to the national broadcaster for the 2015 Slovenian national final. A few days after applications closed on the 21 December, RTVSLO revealed that the national broadcaster has received a total of 145 entries.

Out of the 145 submitted entries, 6 entries will be chosen by a special committee to compete in EMA 2015. Another 6 competing entries will be from invited artists and composers, meaning that a total of 12 entries will compete in the national final. Yesterday, it was confirmed that EMA 2015 would take place on the 28 February with the competing artists expected to be revealed in mid-January.

Tinkara Kovač was selected via the national final EMA 2014 to represent Slovenia at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Copenhagen, Denmark. With her entry Round and round, Tinkara qualified from the second semi-final where she finished in 25th place at the grand final, receiving a total of 9 points.
