The Danish jazz singer Malene Mortensen who represented Denmark at the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest is currently enjoying fame, name and acknowledgment in lands far and away such as Thailand. Her jazz tunes and music have earned her popularity and recognition in this Eastern land. She performed last Sunday at the Thailand Cultural Center in Bangkok along with Caser Villaume Trio and Danish saxophonist Jacob Dienesen. This was part of the concerts held in Thailand at the European Jazzfestival Colour Your Life .
Malene is familiar to Eurovision fans thanks to her victory in the Danish Eurovision Melodi Grand Prix where she won the ticket to represent her native Denmark at the 2002Eurovision SongContest, held in Tallinn. She sang the powerful ballad Tell Me Who You Are but failed to conquer the European audience in the Estonian capital, ending up in last place with just 7 points.
Today, Malene has gained recognition in the Danish jazz scene thanks to her performances with prominent Danish musicians such as Niles Lan Doky, Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen and Alex Riel.This is the third time Malene is in Thailand and both her songs and music are well received by the local audience, something the Danish singer appreciates and is grateful for.
