Will Edurne fly to Vienna and defend the Spanish colours at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest? The rumour mill in Spain is steaming hot with her name as the potential 2015 Spanish Eurovision representative.
Spanish press has gone beserk speculating that Edurne will represent Spain at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, reporting that the Spanish broadcaster TVE will yet again opt for an internal selection to select its Eurovision representative. Edurne is currently trending topic on the Spanish social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook.
Various Spanish websites and newsportals have covered Edurne’s Eurovision rumour insinuating that she might represent Spain in Vienna: Formulatv, Detrasdelatele, Vertele and Bluper.
We must note that TVE is yet to announce its plans for Vienna and hence reveal the mechanism it will use to select the 2015 Spanish Eurovision entry and act.
The former Operacion Triunfo announced today that she will be leaving Todo va bien – a television show aired on private Spanish television channel Cuatro, setting off the alarm among Spanish Eurovision fans, thus hinting that she will be setting her eyes on a new project in the coming months.
One more anecdote that Eurovision fans are startled by is that Edurne is working on her forthcoming new album with none other than Tony Sanchez Ohlsson, the man behind D’NASH”s 2007 Spanish Eurovision entry I love you mi vida and Pastora Soler’s 2012 Eurovision entry Quedate conmigo. Tony was also behind Brequette‘s entry Mas(Run) in the 2014 Spanish national final and Coral’s entries in the Spanish Eurovision national finals in 2008 and 2010, all 3 entries achieved a 2nd placing.
Edurne shot to fame in Spain in 2005 when she competed in the 4th season of the popular talent show Operacion Triunfo aired on private Spanish television channel Telecinco. She achieved a 6th place in the show and has gone places since her Operacion Triunfo days. She has released a total of 5 albums and has gained much name, fame and recognition in Spain both as a singer and tv host. She has participated in various television shows in Spain and is much appreciated among the younger generations.
In 2014 Spain opted for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Copenhagen. Ruth Lorenzo won the 2014 Spanish national final with her entry Dancing in the rain and achieved an honorable 10th place at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest grand final.
Spain debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has participated at every Eurovision edition since then. Spain has won the contest in 1968 with Massiel and 1969 in Salome.
The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
