For the second year, RTP will send a song to compete at the Junior Eurovision Songcontest, on 8 December, in Roterdam. The format chosen is similar to last years Festival da Canção Junior. The show will take place at Tivoli Theatre in Lisbon and will be hosted by Jorge Gabriel and Merche Romero.

Those wanting to take part have to send their songs until 31st August. A panel of three juries will then narrow the selection to 12. The jury members are Anabela, singer for Portugal at the 1993 Eurovision Songcontest, José Poiares, Head of the Portuguese Delegation in Athens and Helsinki and Ramon Galarza, musical producer. The latter was also responsible for the arrangements of the songs at the 2006 junior selection.

The participants have to be between 10 and 15 years of age and must not exceed eight elements per song. They must send a CD with the song they want to enter the competition and a DVD with a home made video of a performance of a song of their choice.

The submitted songs must have never been commercially released or broadcasted by any means and should not exceed 2’45 minutes. The winning song will be chosen by televote.

In 2006, Pedro Madeira came 22nd in Bucharest with the song “Deixa-me sentir”.
