Born in Cyprus in 1957, Anna Vissi moved to Greece in 1973. She has enjoyed a long and distinguished career, accumulating many domestic awards and serving as an inspiration for the country’s young female artists. Anna is one of Greece’s most successful artists of all time, having sold over 9.5 million records globally.
Anna Vissi’s Eurovision story began in 1980 when she, with her backing group The Epikouri, represented Greece with the song Autostop. The song finished in thirteenth place at the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest of that year, which was held in The Hague, The Netherlands, with a total of 30 points.
Anna returned to Eurovision in 1982, this time singing for Cyprus with her self-composed entry Mono i agapi (Only love). With a fifth placing at the Final with a total of 85 points, this was a best result for both Anna and for Cyprus at the time.
Anna Vissi most recently participated at the Eurovision Song Contest of 2006. Representing Greece, in front of the local Athens audience, her entry Everything, which pre-qualified for the Grand Final, finished in ninth place with 128 points.
