The Cypriot broadcaster has announced the rules and regulations for the selection of the song that will represent the country in the forthcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam this coming December.

Children between the ages of 10 and 15 (born between 08/12/1992 and 8/12/1997) can participate, on condition they areof Cypriot nationalityor living legally in the country for at least 2,5 years. Those who have either sang or composed/wrote a song that previously won a national selection are not eligible. Also, past years' back vocalists or dancers in a winning song may participate as performers/authors/composers but not in a second role.

The songs have to be in the country's national language and there will be two phases in the selection process. First, the songs that fulfill the given criteria will be presented live to a special jury that will decide which ones will proceed to the second phase (the exact number of qualifiers has not been announced yet). Then, the successful candidates will take part in the national final, where the winning song will be decided by a jury and televote at a 50-50 split.

The full rules and regulations as well as the application form can be found here. (in Greek)

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
