Slovenia: RTVSLO confirms preliminary participation in Eurovision 2015

RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday  that Slovenia has submitted a preliminary application to the EBU for participation at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

The Slovenian broadcaster is yet to make a final decision regarding its participation at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. The deadline for countries to submit their applications to the EBU in order to participate in the  forthcoming Eurovision edition concluded yesterday 15 September. Hereafter countries have a grace period until 10 October to make a final decision and can withdraw from the competition without facing a financial penalty.

Slovenia is the 33rd country to confirm its intention to participate  at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

It is yet unclear the method and mechanism Slovenia will use to select its 2015 Eurovision entry and act. More details are expected to be released in due course.

In 2014 Slovenia selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national final- EMA. Tinkara Kovac won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with her entry Round and round.  She placed 25th in the grand final in Copehagen.

Slovenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with IX Band and is yet to win the event. The country’s best its placing in the competition has been a 7th place achieved in 1995 with Darja Svajger and in 2001 with Nusa Derenda.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
