HRT, the Croatian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Croatia will not participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, next May.

Thus Croatia joins Monaco, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Andorra, Turkey  and Luxembourg all whom  have confirmed their absence at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

Croatia withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial reasons. The country’s poor results at the Eurovision Song Contest  influenced the broadcaster to take a year’s break from the competition in 2014. Croatia has not qualified to the Eurovision final since 2009, hence staying out of the grand final in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

The last time Croatia competed at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2013 when it opted for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and representative.  Klapa S Mora represented Croatia at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with their entry Mizerja, despite a beautiful performance the country failed to qualify to the grand final.

Croatia debuted at the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest with Put’s Don’t ever cry. The country is yet to win the contest and their best placing at Europe’s favourite television show was in 1996 with Majda Blagdan and in 1999 with Doris Dragovic, achieving a 4th placing.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
