ARMTV, the Armenian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Armenia will participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
Earlier today during the 2014 Armenian Junior Eurovision national final, the Armenian broadcaster announced that Armenia will participate at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, thus confirming that the country will join the party in Vienna.
Armenia is the 29th country to confirm its participation at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
Armenia joins Italy, Romania, United Kingdom, Georgia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Belarus, Latvia, France, Greece, FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium, Portugal, Azerbaijan and Estonia in the list of countries which will join the 2015 Eurovision party in Austria next year
The official list of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest participants is expected to be released by the EBU by early January. The deadline for countries to submit their application in order to compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has been set on 15 September.
The method and mechanism Armenia will opt for to select its 2015 Eurovision entry and act is yet to be determined. More details regarding the 2015 Armenian Eurovision project will be disclosed in due course.
In 2014 Armenia opted for an internal selection in order to select its Eurovision act and entry. Aram Mp3 flew the Armenian flag at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with his entry Not Alone, achieving an honorable 4th placing in the grand final.
Armenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 with Andre and is yet to win the contest. Armenia’s best result at the Eurovision Song Contest is held by Sirusho’s 4th placing in 2008 with Qele Qele and Aram Mp3’s 4th placing in 2014 with Not Alone. Armenia has competed 8 times in Europe’s favorite television show and has achieved great success, hence placing in the TOP 10 in the final 6 times (2006-2010) and in 2014.
The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
