Denmark: DR confirms participation in Eurovision 2015

DR, the Danish national broadcaster and this year’s host has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Denmark will compete at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next year.

Thus Denmark joins Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Ireland, Switzerland and Austria in the list of the countries which have so far confirmed their participation at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2014 Denmark selected Basim via the annual traditional Danish national final- Dansk Melodi Grand Prix to fly the Danish flag at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with his entry Cliche Love Song. Basim achieved a 9th place in the grand final.

Denmark is more than likely to select their 2015 Eurovision entry via the annual Danish national selection Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. More details regarding the 2015 Danish national selection will be released in the coming months.

Denmark debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has won the event thrice in 1963 with Grethe and Jorgen Ingmann, 2000 with the Olsen Brothers and 2013 with Emmelie De Forest. Copenhagen has hosted the event thrice too in 1964, 2001 and 2014. The Danish capital also hosted the 50th Eurovision Anniversary Show- Congratulations.
