Lithuanian representative Vilija Matačiūnaitė was given her final send-off from Vilnius in style, with a farewell party for her and her delegation.

With rehearsals under way, all of the delegations from around Europe have been making their way to Copenhagen in preparation for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. For Lithuanian entrant Vilija, it’s been a time of celebration as she was joined by family, friends, fans, and even the Mayor of Vilnius,  Arturas Zuokas, gathered to give their well wishes before she takes the stage for the rest of Europe on 8 May.

“All of the preparations are over. From the clothes which I will wear on stage, to my music album. It’s recorded and released. I want to thank my friends, family, and colleagues, who had patience working with me over these past two months. It was hard, but we made it!”

Vilija’s debut CD was released in Lithuania, with other territories and formats planned soon.

The Head of Delegation for Lithuania, Audrius Giržadas, noted that there’s still lots of work ahead for the young singer and her team when they arrive in Copenhagen. Between rehearsals, press events, concerts, and even remotely participating in the upcoming Lithuanian election on the 6 May, it’s going to be a busy schedule for the team.
