Jørgen Ramskov, producer at the Danish broadcaster DR and producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen, said that DR will not participate in a Nordic Grand Prix. Also he released details about the near future of the Eurovision Song Contest.

“We told other Nordic countries that we are not interested anymore in a Nordic Grand Prix, as we are more interested in the new rules and the development of the Eurovision Song Contest”, Ramskov said. The other countries reacted overall positive.

Ramskov also said that there is still hope for Denmark to participate in the 2003 contest, if 10 countries disagree with the new rules concerning televoting. He also believes that the Eurovision Song Contest will get semi-finals in the near future. Among others, this item will be discussed on the Eurovision reference group meeting on September 12th.

Finally, Jørgen Ramskov announced that, after the EBU approves, DR will organise semi-finals for their national final in 2004 just like in Sweden.
